Test Requirements for NetClear GTX Cabling System Warranty

In order to ensure proper installation of the NetClear channel, one hundred percent (100%) of all permanent links shall be tested for internal performance parameters up to a frequency of 500 MHz according the requirements outlined in the latest draft of TIA/EIA-568-B.2-10. “Transmission performance specifications for 4-pair 100 ? augmented category 6 cabling”.  This testing must be performed using a ISO Level IV or proposed TIA Level IIIe accuracy compliant tester. All test results shall receive a PASS indication.  Should any link not pass the link test then a channel test using Clarity 10G patch cords should be conducted on that channel to confirm acceptance.  All test data shall be saved and provided to Berk-Tek or Ortronics in an electronic format during the NetClear warranty registration process.

Due to the robust design and inherent headroom of NetClear GTX Cabling System,  Alien Crosstalk testing is not required

If you choose to perform Alien Crosstalk testing the following test guidelines, as well as those published by the tester manufacturer, should be followed:

  • 1% of the total number of links should d be tested as “victim” links.  For small projects a minimum of five links should be tested.
  • Victim links should be tested from the cross-connect patch panel location (floor distributor). Testing from the remote end can be performed when the cabling runs from patch panel to patch panel such as in a data center.
  • Select the longest links in a cabling installation as “victim” links. If several links measure approximately the same length, select the victim links such that as many bundles as practical are covered.
  • Significant alien crosstalk from all channels or permanent links that have positions in close proximity in a patch panel, or located in the same cable bundle, as the selected victim channel or permanent link should be included in the power sum crosstalk result.
